THE JAMIE YOUNG SHOW
By Jamie Young
Hey everybody! Welcome back to the next installment of the Jamie Young Show. First of all I would like to say thank you to everyone who has sent emails over the last week.
Further on from last week I put it to you, the fans, to come up with a name, and here it is: The Jamie Young show. Personally I think this is quite quiet compared to some the names I have received but they are too explicit to put on the club site. (What kind of fans are you???) I'm almost 100% sure that Alan Parry would edit it out and say that I can't put these names in, so AP: I'm just saving you the trouble buddy!
So yes here it is and I think it's quite fitting. We'll be in touch (to the winner) who we can't name about the prize, a free signed pair of gloves from yours truly. So lets get this ball rolling...First up the questions from last week:
From gra132:
How many nationalities do you have?! I thought you were Australian, then you mention in your last blog that you're half Scottish and I imagine you have English nationality seeing as you've lived here for several years. That makes you quite like Owen Hargreaves, so which country would you play for internationally?
Great question! This is a complicated answer so lets set the record straight here. I've been told the club website says I'm Australian and my parents are English. Come on guys how do you think I have this tan? It's not fake you know!
The truth is that I was born in Australia and my Dad is Scottish (much to the manager's dismay) and my mother is Sri Lankan, so whoever is updating the website have a word with yourself! The reason I qualify for England is that I hold a British passport and this makes me eligible for the home nations.
(Editor's note: Lay off Jamie - or the media team will withdraw its decision to sponsor you!)
Are squad numbers important to you, or are you not bothered about what number you wear? You could have had no.1 for this season - did Scott Shearer play a game of Fifa or Pro Evo against you to see who got it, or do you like the number 19?
It is nice to have the number 1 shirt being a goalkeeper. There's a certain amount of pride that comes with that. It's not the be all and end all though and numbers count for nothing when you're playing a game so for me I'm not too bothered about it.
As for playing Pro Evo I'd whoop Scott's monkey ass as I don't think he plays those games because he is too busy on the internet...You figure it out!

Has anyone ever said you look like Dominic Purcell (Lincoln from Prison Break)? I think there's quite a likeness there.
Yeah a few people have mentioned this to me but I don't see the resemblance personally. He's cool so what do I care?!?!
From Matthew Ing:
And finally when are you going to get your hair cut - you are starting to resemble a mop with gloves!
Hahaha I love it! We'll get to this one later in the piece!
So first up, lets talk about the team. We're on fire! I'm so happy for the guys, I was hoping they'd turn it around and so far they're doing so. There's still a long way to go and we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves but I think we're in a better state then previous years as we have the momentum with us. So I hope we take advantage of this and carry us on to the end of the season.
Also might I add thank you for the support that you are giving to us! We love it and long may it continue! Moving on…
The home game against Barnet produced a familiar face, albeit in the warm-up. Many of you fans might have been wondering: "why has Jamie Young got a mop on his head...and is he fit again to be involved?" After suffering abuse from the terrace stand behind the goal about my hair do (cheers guys) it has come to the attention of the supporters that apparently your hair has to be short or something like that!
Apart from that I think it looks cool. The story behind it is a bet with Shears and I. Basically we were doing rehab a few months ago and he said I should cut my hair. I responded by saying "nah man it looks cool and I'm not going to cut it until at least I get fit". He didn't believe me so we put £10 on it. So Shears, if you're reading this mate: I haven't forgotten!
Also, more importantly, it was the first time I had been on the pitch since I have been injured and it was great to finally get back out there. It was only the warm-up but at least it's a sign that things are going well in my recovery. I'm looking at playing in the reserve game next week so hopefully I will be involved and if that goes well who knows what will happen.
So I guess I'm almost there and I'm pleased how it's gone and that it's almost over. Before I move on I would just like to thank Dave Jones (sports consultant), Shay Connolly (physio) and Murray Moore (academy physio) because they've all played their part in my recovery. Dave (Jonah) has done more than most as he's in charge and has been awesome!

There have been times when I've said to myself that I can't do any more and Jonah will just tell me that I need to do it and afterwards I'm so glad that I have because all it needed was hard work. Shay also has had a strong part in my recovery but not as much as Jonah. He is just as effective and he'll tell you what to do and then just quietly stand back and let you do it.
I think the reason behind this is because it's up to me to do it so it gets me to think that if I don't do it I won't get fit. I guess it's kind of reverse psychology but it's worked on me. Last but certainly not least is Murray our academy physio from New Zealand. Murray has helped me out too and it's easy doing his sessions as being an Aussie and him being a Kiwi we always have something to talk about. Usually it's me saying he lives in "Little Australia" which he hates but it always cracks me up, it makes the time go by and it's all good natured.
One of my favourite pastimes is playing Xbox (I can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet) which is great because it stimulates my mind and I don't have to think much (not that I do, of course). What's even better is that you can play your friends on Xbox Live without even having to leave your home. I've been raving on about this since I had first joined the club a year ago to the lads and no-one seemed to listen, apart from Oakesy who already had it.
We'd play Pro Evo against each other and chat about it the next day. So when we signed the new lads I'd thought I'd try and get them into it and Holty said he has it, so I got his gamer tag and added him so we could play. The problem with Holty is that every time you try and play a game he pies you because he won't play with rubbish players - thanks Holty!
What also amuses me is that as soon as Bloomsie got wind of Holty having Xbox Live, he went out and bought it so he could play with him too. Come on dude, that is slightly suspect, but there you go.
We had Stocks having to ask his missus if he could get one, which tells me who is wearing the pants in his household, and only just recently the famous Russell Martin has been granted his wish by his missus too and received one for his birthday. Also Crooksy has got in the act and his stats are quite impressive might I add. This should make for quite interesting times I'm sure but hopefully not too many late nights!
My favourite game is Halo by far. It's been quoted to be the best game of all time and I wouldn't disagree. Holty likes the Call of Duty series and most recently number 3. I think this is because he was in the army and he can relate to it when I whoop his ass when I play against him. Bloomsie is pure Pro Evo which I think is a bit one-trick pony and he gets so made when he loses too, which makes it even better when he loses.
Stocks likes Ghost Recon because he sucks at Call of Duty and he needs something to fall back on because he supposedly is good at the Xbox. I think if you're having to ask your missus to play then you're struggling in the first place! Finally Russell Martin - I don't know what he likes but knowing him he's still probably figuring out how to turn it on in the first place, never mind being good at it.
Well thanks so much for tuning in this week. I hope you've all enjoyed it! Thanks once again for you support, we really appreciate it. Keep the questions coming in because they've been rather hilarious. Let me know if there are any game enthusiasts out there and what you guys like. Finally until next week, Keep It Real!
