BLUES LEGEND - TONY HORSEMAN

Posted on: Fri 17 Apr 2009

'Bodger' made himself a legend at Loakes Park during the 1960's and 1970's and to this day holds the record as the player to make the most appearances for the club as well as being the player to score the most goals.

He signed for the Blues in 1961 and made his debut against Oxford City in October of that year, scoring in the 3-2 win. Keeping a regular place in the team for the next fifteen years and ending up leading scorer in half of them, he broke the clubs scoring record in the 1966-67 season with a phenomenal 60 goals, a return that is almost unheard of in today's game.

In his time at Wycombe Wanderers Tony won four Isthmian League Championships and was part of the team that finished runners-up twice. He was nicknamed 'Bodger' at school because of his very useful ability in woodwork, a name that has since been adopted by the club mascot.
