The season may be over and the transfer window relatively quiet, but the Chairboys are still working hard behind the scenes to bring the best footballing talent to Adams Park.

With the first team squad vacating the training ground there was plenty of room for the Wanderers community scheme to host a special football tournament for local teams from the under 7's, 8's, 9's and 10's age groups.

Over 80 sides from the surrounding area took part in the competition , which is designed to help the Chairboys pick up the best in local talent for their Centre of Excellence.

Twelve youngsters have been singled out by the Blues scouts for further attention and with another tournament set to take place this weekend, the future is looking bright for the club's scouting system.

"Many people have told me this is the best organised tournament they've played in, it's building up a good reputation,"community scheme manager Dave Evans told wwfc.com.

"It's important that we give everyone a good time and it also allows us to make sure we pick up on some of the better players from the local region who have not been picked up by other clubs".

This weekend sees the second of the 'Soccer Festivals' take place, as 15 sides from the under 11's and under 12's age group prepare to showcase their skills.

With youth team hot shots George Daly and Dan Fitchett both signing professional forms this summer there is sure to be plenty of inspiration for any budding Wanderers out there, so stay tuned to wwfc.com for more news.
