FURTHER PRAISE FOR STEWARDS
By Adam Franc
Safety Officer Richard Stanford and his stewarding team have received a letter of congratulations from The Football League for winning the Customer Service Team of the Year Award.
Wycombe's stewards were bestowed with the honour at the National Customer Service Awards back in September, but The Football League's Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson has taken it upon himself to personally praise Wanderers' security team for all their hard work.
Williamson stated that: "On behalf of The Football League, I would like to congratulate Wycombe Wanderers for winning the Customer Service Team of the Year Award at the National Customer Service Awards 2008.
"Wycombe are most worthy recipients of this accolade and the stewarding team's hard work and commitment to delivering excellent customer service has been instrumental in the club's success."
The Football League official also suggested that other teams should try to emulate Wycombe's high quality of security provision, in order to improve standards across England and Wales.
"We are working hard with all 72 league clubs to ensure that a family friendly focus and customer service are key parts of the matchday experience and Wycombe Wanderers' achievements in this area offer a tremendous example for others to follow."
Stanford's team has consistently been recognised as one of the most elite in the country, boasting the lowest arrest record in The Football League and requiring no police presence at any of their league games in the 2007/08 season.
Only last month the group were commended by the FA for their sterling efforts in maintaining security at the Blues' FA Cup tie with Eastwood Town.
Even the public have recognised their efforts, with Wycombe's stewards being voted the best in League Two as part of the Football League Supporters Survey, which more than 40,000 fans completed back in June.
Undoubtedly Stan and his team will not let all the praise go to their heads, and they will continue to provide a high level of safety and security for all fans the rest of the season and in the years to come.
