CHALFONT STUMP THE REST
By Ben Campbell
Little Chalfont School have been crowned the champions of the Community department's first ever Kwik Cricket tournament.
11 schools took part in the competition, which was held at Winchmore Hill Cricket club near Amersham, and the sun was not only shining on the eventual winners, Little Chalfont, but on all the teams as they produced some great cricket on a glorious day in Buckinghamshire.
The tournament was the first ever cricketing event Wycombe Wanderers' Community department had ever organised and it was part of their ever-improving Multisports programme.
On the day Little Chalfont came out on top, beating St.John's B 116-71 in the final after both teams had progressed from the semi-final stage.
The schools were split into two groups of four and a group of three, the top four sides from the group stages then went through to the semi-final stage before the winners battled it out in the final.
The final was an extremely good game of cricket with the scores at one point deadlocked at 71 with only 10 balls to spare. However, Little Chalfont stepped it up in the final two overs to overcome St.John's B and be crowned the winners.
All the participants were given a medal for their efforts on the day, where as the winners were also presented with a trophy by the organiser of the competition - Matt Pearce.
