Wycombe Wanderers 0-1 Leeds United
Full-time here at Adams Park and the Blues have fallen to a 1-0 defeat to Leeds United. Luciano Becchio's neat finish on 61 minutes has separated the two sides here in Buckinghamshire, but once again there are positives to take from the game.
Peter Taylor's men shaded the opening 45 and went close through John Mousinho after good work from Matty Phillips. The second half saw Leeds come to life and went ahead through Becchio's drive. The Wanderers came close to an equaliser late on, but Stuart Green's 25-yard strike was pushed onto the post by Shane Higgs.
Keep it wwfc.com for reaction from today's game.
92mins: Big chance in stoppage time for the Wanderers and Stuart Beavon. JP did well to knick the ball of Marques, he pulled the ball back for Beavon, only for the striker to drag his shot wide from 6 yards. To be fair to him there were a lot of bodies in his way.
91mins: Three minutes added on.
90mins: A stoppage in play to treat Becchio hands time for Leeds to make their sub. It will be that man Becchio coming off for Showumni.
89mins: Stuart Green has just had a superb effort tipped onto the post from 25 yards. So close. Shears is up for the corner.
87mins: Showumni is going to be Leeds' second sub of the afternoon in a moments time.
85mins: The Blues are looking more likely to get an equaliser now but still aren't doing enough in terms of using the pace of JP.
83mins: David Prutton is on for Robert Snodgrass.
81mins: Can
the Blues force some late drama at Adams Park? In all seriousness the Leeds fans have been magnificent and they were nearly celebrating then as Beckford's overhead kick had to wonderfully saved by Shearer.
79mins: On-loan Coventry midfielder Michael Doyle goes within inches of making it 2-0. The Irishman picked his spot but couldn't quite execute.
77mins: Green is on for Adam Smith. Mousinho has been handed some instructions by Damien Doyle. I wonder if he's handed him his lucky Irish charm - I hope so!
75mins: Stuart Green is now also being readied but Taylor will wait for Leeds to take their corner before making the change.
73mins: Taylor is going for it and fair play to the gaffer. Can JP and Beavon work their magic once again?
71mins: Stuart Beavon is on for Matt Harrold. The Blues will end the game as they did on the opening day at Charlton.
69mins: Simon Grayson's men are piling forward for number two and at the moment the Blues have no answer.
66mins: Well-timed tackle from Spurs loanee denies Bradley Johnson inside the 18-yard area. The Blues now have to defend a corner, but they do it well at the second attempt.
64mins: What an effort from Howson. The skipper let fly from 25 yards and his shot flew inches over Shearer's crossbar. The Blues must stay strong, keep it to 1-0 and go again.
63mins: JP is on and has already shown a clean pair of heels to Rui Marques.
62mins: The Leeds striker was fed on the edge of the box, he got the ball out of his feet and unleashed an unstoppable drive past Scott Shearer from 20 yards.
61mins: Jon-Paul Pittman is readied. As I type that Leeds have scored and it's Luciano Becchio.
58mins: Cries of "Come on, Wycombe" ring out from the Green King IPA terrace. Can that support lift the Blues?
56mins: Free-kick for the Blues...but Phillips' ball into the box is straight into Shane Higgs' arms.
55mins: Leeds are camped in the Blues defensive third and are inviting pressure onto themselves. Even when the ball goes forward to Harrold it comes back again because he hasn't got enough support at the moment.
53mins: Nice interchange between Becchio and Johnson frees the latter but his ball across the box can't find any of his team mates.
51mins: The visitors have settled better than the Blues in this second 45 and are the ones threatening to open the scoring.
49mins: Leeds skipper Howson has been cautioned for a late challenge on Ian Westlake.
48mins: Becchio unleashes an effort but it's well wide of Scott Shearer's goal. Despite sending his shot way wide on that occasion, that much time can't be given to someone of his quality.
Half-time here at Adams Park and the score remains deadlocked. Both sides have had good chances; Jermaine Beckford hit the post on 16 minutes and then fired wide just after the half hour mark when put through by Robert Snodgrass.
As for the Blues, Matt Phillips, Chris Zebroski and Matt Harrold have all looked dangerous, but it was John Mousinho who couldn't quite get on the end of a teasing Phillips cross. The Blues have shaded matters so far and be sure to join me again in 15 minutes.
45mins: The 4th official has indicated that there will be a minimum of one minute added time.
44mins: Only a minute before the half-time whistle and it looks as if the sides will go in at 0-0.
42mins: The Blues are in the middle of defending a series of corners. Referee Attwell has spotted something he didn't like and has cautioned Beckford. I think it was something he said.
41mins: Westlake does well to stop the ball running out for a goal-kick but has no support and Rui Marques comes away with the ball.
39mins: Awesome all over the field from the Blues. Harrold, Phillips and Zebs have been special so far.
37mins: What an amazing move from the Blues. Harrold touched in Phillips, he left his marker for dead, crossed perfectly only the onrushing Mousinho to miss the header. We're playing soem great stuff.
35mins: Good handling from Scott Shearer, as he scampers from his line to claim a nice through ball from the Leeds midfield.
33mins: Leeds should be 1-0 up and it should have been courtesy of the left foot of Jermaine Beckford. He was beautifully fed by Snodgrass but after steadying himself, he fired into the newly dubbed 'Greene King IPA' terrace instead of Shearer's net.
31mins: The Blues' opening 30 minutes has really got the Adams Park faithful bouncing. Leeds are slowly seeing more of the ball.
29mins: As the ball comes to Peter Taylor he flicks the ball up in the management staff's training wear.
24mins: It's been an impressive start from the Blues but the visitors do look dangerous coming forward, and Robert Snodgrass was just given too much space before lashing it high and wide.
20mins: Apologies for the brief delay; there's all sorts going on today. In the brief period of silence, Jermaine Beckford showed his class with a swerving 20-yard volley after a moment of hesitation from Luke Oliver, but the ball went spinning just wide.
12 mins: Great play by the Wanderers. Matt Harrold shows some brilliant hold up play to release Matt Phillips on the left hand side. The youngster does well to cut inside to the box and lay a pass off to Zebs in the area - but Chris can only fire straight at the keeper. Best chance of the game so far.
10 mins: Ian Westlake has made a surprise start for the Blues after recovering quicker than expected from a hamstring injury, nice to see him back against his old side. Lewis Montrose clips a long ball out wide to Zebroski, but it is slightly over hit and rolls out of play.
8 mins: The Wanderers are starting with Matt Harrold as a lone striker, with Zebroski and Phillips supporting on the wings when possible. Leeds win their first free-kick of the afternoon on the half-way line.
5 mins: We're underway here at Adams Park - a bright start from the Wanderers in a wonderful atmosphere at Adams Park. The Blues have had the better of the play in the opening stages, though no real opportunities as yet.
