YOUNGSTERS BRAVELY BOW OUT
By Ross Jeavons
Wycombe Wanderers 1-2 Leyton Orient
Richard Dobson's U18's were knocked out of the F.A Youth Cup on Tuesday evening, despite a brave battling display. It was a proud performance by the youngsters but after taking the lead early in the second half through Jordan Lumsden they were pegged back by a solid Leyton Orient outfit. It could have gone either way with both sides creating enough chances to win the game, but at the end of the night it was the Chairboys who were left slumped on the floor disconsolate.
Enough of a show to realise there is plenty of hope at Adams Park, with some dangerous, pacey threats going forward.

FULL TIME
90 mins: Close. Great break from Wycombe, McClure switches it to Palladino but he denied in the box by a great saving tackle.
89 mins: That would have been game over. Adam Marsh jinks inside but drags his shot just wide of the post.
87 mins: Wycombe always looked a bit shell-shocked after that first goal, and so it has proved. Still a few minutes to get themselves back in the game though.
85 mins: GOAL! Oh no. Wycombe don't deal with the corner properly, and Orient's number six Elliot Babos bundles the ball home with a strong challenge from close range.
84 mins: Good run and a stinging shot from Leyton Orient's Harry Baker, but it is tipped round the post nicely by Reading.
81 mins: Daryl Sydes tries a long range effort for Orient, but this time the goalscorer puts it high and wide.
79 mins: O'Regan swings in a dangerous free-kick, that just avaids the leaping Palladino at the far post.
76 mins: Orient number four Matt Hall is left limping after a strong, all be it fair challenge from Wycombe centre back Craig Read. He hobbles off, but after some magic spray is back in action.
74 mins: The winner of this tie takes on Watford in the third round, a big fixture that would be - and a winnable one some might say. This match has quietened down since the first ten minutes of the second period.
71 mins: More good defending from O'Regan, he isn't fooled by the trickery of Manneh and robs the Orient winger of the ball.
69 mins: A neat run and crossfield ball from Palladino releases Federico once more, he skips past his man with ease but fires a long range effort well wide.
67 mins: Set piece is eventually cleared by the Wanderers, a sliced clearance from McClure almost put Bolle through but in the end it was well hacked away.
66 mins: Pietro has dropped up front, whilst Federico comes back into midfield. The Blues are struggling to retain possession, as Orient dominate the last five minutes -all be it without creating a chance. They do win a corner kick however.
64 mins: Wycombe make their first sub, Dean Wallace is replaced by striker Pietro Palladino.
62 mins: At times it's the communication amongst Wycombe's back four that's been the problem. The ball is being allowed to bounce in the box, as they fail to put a name on a clearance. That's nerves showing, I reckon.
60 mins: Good play by Fitchett, he races to the byline before smashing a cross into the six yard box, unfortunately McClure is inches away.
58 mins: Ball kicked out of play, goalscorer Lumsden is down and needing treatment. Looks like a shoulder injury.
56 mins: As mentioned before, the O's have had so many golden chances tonight - one had to eventually go in. Although the Wanderers look quick and dangerous going forward, there are far too many holes at the back. All the hallmarks of a high scoring encounter.
54 mins: GOAL! Maybe that was my curse. Orient are back in it, midfielder Daryl Sydes finishes well after finding space in the box.
52 mins: The away side squandered so many chances in the first period, the Chairboys have shown them how its done in this second half. Hopefully with the pressure off slightly, the Wanderers can get a couple more.
50 mins: Better responce from Orient. Harry Baker cracks a rasping effort just wide.
48 mins: How did that stay out? Sam Belcher whips in a long range drive that rattles the crossbar and bounces away. Great effort, great start to the second half from Richard Dobson's side.
47 mins: GOAL! No sooner have we re-started,, the Blues have the lead. Fitchett seems to be through on goal but is charged down by Giddins, the ball rebounds to Lumsden who chips it into the net. Cooly finish.
46 mins: Back underway here at Adams Park
WWFC 0-0 Leyton Orient
44 mins: One minute of time added on at the end of the first half.
42 mins: The Wanderers look dangerous and quick on the break, but have given the O's a bit too much room in the box. Looks to be a game with goals left in it, though none as yet here at a chilly Adams Park.
40 mins: Another golden chance wasted from the away side, this time the Blues an thank Adam Marsh. He drags wide from 12 yards, un-marked.
38 mins: Great defensive play from Tom O Regan. He is not a tall fella, only about 5ft 5, but he rifles into two huge challenges on the wing, winning both in style.
36 mins: More good play by Federico to beat two men on the right, he is challenged well in the box and wins a corner for the Wanderers.
34 mins: It is nice to see that Wycombe's three central midfielders look very comfortable on the ball. They have good techniques, and it shows why the U18's are known for playing good football.
32 mins: At times the front three are isolating eachother a bit too much for the Wanderers, as two hold back and leave the other stranded. Orient are looking dangerous down the right wing.
29 mins: Quieter spell in the game, Federico and Fitchett still look like causing trouble for the O's when they get the ball, but have been kept out of the game for the last couple of minutes.
26 mins: Another golden chance squandered by Orient. Somehow the ball shoots all the way across the box to Harry Baker, who with all the time in the world lashes his shot well wide of the goal.
25 mins: First team stars Scott Shearer and Matty Phillips are amongst the crowd tonight, good to see them supporting their youth team colleagues.
23 mins: Gets worse for Bolle. He is booked, for dissent.
21 mins: Adam Bolle should have done better there for Leyton Orient. One on one with Reading he sent a weak shot straight at the Blues' keeper.
19 mins: Good interplay between Fitchett and Federico results in the later crossing low into the box, but no-one is there to meet it.
17 mins: First booking of the game, Wycombe's Jordan Lumsden sees yellow for a late tackle.
15 mins: Federico has lightening pace down that right, causing numerous headaches for the visitors' defence. He dashes down the right, does well to beat two ment before sending in a wondeful cross to McClure. The target man is only inches away from connecting with a header.
13 mins: Best chance of the game, mix-up in O's defence allows Federico through, but he is denied by a stooping challenge from Orient keeper Giddins.
12 mins: The Wanderers are mirroring their first team counterparts' formation tonight. 4-3-3, with Fitchett, Federico and McClure the trio up top. McClure is the youth team top scorer this season with ten goals.
11 mins: Dan Fitchett, a pacey striker, cuts inside and whips in a low shot. Well saved by Jake Giddins. Fitchett is a second year pro, who was prolific in the second half of the 2007/08 season for both youth and reserve teams.
9 mins: Apologies if the Clockwatch is slower than usual tonight. I'm acting as matchday announcer, scoreboard operater and website mogul. To give you a clue as to my reliability - I just about remembered to start the clock ten minutes in. Red faces all round ladies and gents.
8 mins: From the resulting corner, Tom O'Regan's whipped in ball just misses everyone and shoots past the post. Good stuff.
7 mins: Early pressure from the O's has been well kept out by Wycombe, now they have a chance of their own. Free-kick on the edge of the box, just as dangerous as the away side's moments ago. Tom O'Regan steps up, but the Ireland U18 left back sees it deflected over the bar.
5 mins: Am I alone tonight? Is there anyone out there? Prove it - get in touch on media@wwfc.com with your views, news and questions. To start the ball rolling. Who can tell me an interesting fact about our goalie, Mr Reading? Give you a clue - family orientated
4 mins: Dangerous position for the Wanderers to give away a free-kick, right on the edge of the 'D'. Shot comes in low but again clutched well by the safe hands of second year scholar James Reading.
2 mins: Early chance for the O's, the Blues give the ball away on the edge of the area but Adam Bolle's shot is fortunatly weak, and well held by Reading.
1 mins: Not a bad attendance at all for this fixture. Two evenly matched teams, and a competition that is well loved and respected throughout the land. Manchester City won it last year, in a season where the Blues saw a wonderful cup run stopped only by the mighty Liverpool
