A GREAT DAY FOR SCANNAPPEAL

Posted on: Tue 03 Feb 2009

By Ben Campbell

The Wanderers fans weren't the only ones to come away from the game with Accrington on Saturday with smiles on their faces after Scannappeal raised nearly 1k.

The club's Charity of the Season ran a bucket collection as well being handed donations from box holders, a portion of the money from the activities that were on offer as part of the Wanderers' Community Game at Adams Park and 50p from each hot dog that was sold.

Mr. Jonathan Greenland also received a 5k cheque from WWFC at the game on behalf of the Buckinghamshire charity, which was the club's Community Shield money that we were handed at the beginning of the season, and all the funds Scannappeal raised from the day and previous events is going towards purchasing cancer-treating equipment in local hospitals.

Scannappeal Director Amanda Martin said: "We would like to thank the club for all their efforts at the Community Game - we were so lucky that it didn't rain and, although cold, people were really supportive of all that was going on."
