Going by car?

The postcode for your SatNav is S2 4SU

Mileage from High Wycombe = 154 miles

Take the usual route to the northbound M1 (M40 west, exiting at Junction 10 to take A43 towards Northampton, picking up the M1 at Junction 15A). Leave the M1 at Junction 29 taking the A617 signposted Chesterfield. At the roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A61 (signposted Sheffield, Worksop A619). Continue on the A61 through Dronfield and into Sheffield. Continue past the 'Earl of Arundel' and Surrey Public House on the left. Take the next left onto Bramall Lane and the ground is on the right.

Under normal traffic conditions, the journey should take around 2¾ hours. Recommended service areas on the M1 are at Leicester Forest and Trowell (93 and 120 miles from Wycombe respectively).

It's street parking but watch out for restrictions. One option is to park by the Meadowhall Shopping Centre close to J34 of the M1. Apparently there is some free parking there. From there you can take a tram to the city centre (less than £2 return) and walk from there to the ground.

Going by train?

It is possible to do this trip by taking Chiltern Railways to Banbury and then Cross Country trains to Sheffield. The recommended change on the return is at Leamington Spa.

Return journey

The ground is about a 10-15 minute walk from the station. As you come out of the station, walk left along the main road. Where the road splits take the right fork which is Shoreham Street and continue down this road to the ground.

Around the ground:

I have heard that the hostelries near to the ground such as 'Sheaf House', 'Railway Hotel', 'Golden Lion', 'The Railway' & 'Cricketers' are for home fans only. One option is 'The Earl' on Queens Road that is about a 10 minute walk.

Two recommended hostelries near the station are 'The Globe' and 'The Howard'. 'The Rutland Arms' on Brown Street (between the station and the ground) is a real ale pub. Otherwise alcohol is available inside the ground.
