Food & Beverage Manager John Farrington revels in the success of the Conference Centre Open Day, which saw over 60 people visit the first-class facilities at Adams Park.

Fridays might be seen as the slow wind-down towards the weekend for some, but for the team at Wycombe Wanderers, it was a case of 'all hands on deck' as they prepared to welcome guests from local companies to showcase the conferencing and banqueting suites.

Guests were welcomed in the Vere Suite by Alan Parry, who provided plenty of anecdotes before introducing Wasps legend Lawrence Dallaglio, who explained just why his club enjoy playing at the Hillbottom Road site.

Steve Hayes and John Farrington added short speeches before the visitors were given a tour of the stadium and provided with a fine lunch in the Woodlands Lounge.

Weeks of preparation preceded the Open Day, with Diana Lauren and Matt Bowles in particular being instrumental in the inviting of local businesses, but it was F&B Manager John Farrington who provided us with an overview of the event:

"It was a tremendous success," he told us. "It's the end of the day now and we've already had emails thanking us for a successful day, so we're very pleased.

"The companies were very impressed with the facilities, the catering and the service we provide, but a lot of them didn't actually know we had them. We're absolutely convinced that when people see what we have here, they'll want to come back and see them again."

And the Open Day caps off a brilliant year for the department, which has exceeded all expectations:

"It's been a tremendous year. It's down to focus, hard work from the team, customer service and bringing in new companies. Broadway Tyres, for example, had their new company launch here a few weeks ago, and have since made three more appointments for meetings at Adams Park.

"We've been planning for the new season since the end of the last one. We're getting new products for the kiosks, and devising new hospitality menus for all conferences and matchdays, which were sampled today and proved to be very successful."
