The centre-back impressed after coming on a substitute against Southend last weekend, but overall the Blues weren’t at their best and slipped to defeat.
“As a whole, we didn’t put in a good enough performance (at Southend),” Johnson told 1887. “We’ve come in this week, everyone’s had a chat and training has been good. We’ll go out all guns blazing, put in a shift and see where that takes us.
“If selected, I’ll be out there giving 100%. We haven’t had a great start to the season and we all want to put that right.
“If the opposition is better than you on the day but you’ve given 100% then sometimes you have to take it on the chin. You need to go away from games having given everything. If everyone gives everything then you can’t ask for any more.”
Winger Joel Grant echoed Johnson’s comments, calling for a strong start.
He said: “We’ve worked hard in training and are looking for a reaction. A few words were said and we had a meeting with the gaffer. A few of the senior players put their thoughts across and we all know what we need to do, that’s win games.
“I think the first goal is important and it helps you relax you a bit. We know we need to win games and getting a good start can help in any match.”
