Gareth Ainsworth and defender Jason McCarthy have been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League 2 manager and player of the month awards.
Ainsworth guided his side to three wins and a draw from their five league games in December, most notably recording successive victories over Oxford United, Luton Town and Crawley Town over the Christmas period.
Southampton loanee McCarthy made a successful transition from centre-back to right-back, scoring the winning goal against Oxford and contributing to the two clean sheets at the end of the month.
The other contenders for the managerial award are Plymouth's Derek Adams, Bristol Rovers' Darrell Clarke and Cambridge's Shaun Derry, while McCarthy's rivals for the player of the month prize are Portsmouth's Gareth Evans, Oxford's John Lundstram and Matty Taylor of Bristol Rovers.
The winners will be chosen by a judging panel which comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery, and will be announced on Friday morning.
