The game has been designated as the club's 'Game of Action' in support of the Kick It Out campaign and Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust (SET) are organising a special art competition in partnership with the club which will see a winning entry being chosen by manager Gareth Ainsworth and then used as the official programme cover for the Stevenage match.
“Kick It Out” is a campaigning organisation whose primary aim is to eradicate all forms of discrimination within football by working with the football authorities, professional clubs, players, fans and communities. The match versus Stevenage will be used by Wycombe Wanderers to raise awareness of the problem of discrimination, as well as sending a clear message that we as a football club want to actively promote equality in all walks of life.
In order to do this, the art competition will attempt to educate local children and steer them away from forming discriminatory opinions. Before entering, it is hoped that those who choose to participate will discuss the issue of discrimination either in the school classroom with their teacher or at home with their parent(s)/guardian(s). Following this, youngsters are then encouraged to design a programme cover which promotes the message of equality/inclusion/anti-discrimination.
In addition to the winning piece of art being used as the official programme cover for the Stevenage FC fixture, every child who submits an entry to the competition will be provided with 2 FREE match tickets (1 adult & 1 child) to come and watch the game.
Further to this, all entries will be displayed on the big screen at the game for the thousands of attending fans to see, as well as in other areas around Adams Park, the home of Wycombe Wanderers.
SET hope that this competition will be of interest to lots of young people living in and around Wycombe, and will go some way to making sure that the children growing up in the area recognise that individual differences should be accepted and embraced rather than being ridiculed or feared.
In order to enter the competition, please print the attached document
