Blues’ longest-serving player has made 289 appearances since joining from Ipswich Town in December 2003, scoring 27 goals, and the new deal entitles the fans’ favourite to a testimonial as reward for his loyalty.
The 29-year-old suffered a frustrating 2012/13 season because of injury, but has stepped up his rehabilitation over the last couple of months and is aiming to be fit for the start of pre-season.
“Nine-and-a-half years is quite a big chunk of your life to spend at one club so I’m delighted to be offered the opportunity to extend that for another year,” Bloomfield told Chairboys Player.
“I’ve grown up here, I love my football and I love life away from the game around here.
“I’m proud and honoured to have been able to have spent 10 years at one place, it’s a big deal and to have spent it here is an even bigger deal.
“Some of the names that have achieved that and had a testimonial here over the years are big names within the club’s history and I’m really proud and honoured to go into my testimonial year.”
Bloomfield added: “You’re a little big forgotten in football when you’re not playing, but I’ve had messages of support from fans and everyone around the club and they have kept me going at times when it has been pretty hard.
“The fans’ support during my time at the club and especially during the last eight months has been pretty pivotal in me being able to fight against this injury and look forward to next year.
“It’s (the recovery) going really well and I’m really chuffed. I’ve only had a couple of days off since the end of the season. I’ve been in the gym nearly every day and I’m working as hard as I possibly can to get fit as soon as I can.
“I’m looking forward to pre-season, probably more than anyone else in the squad and I’m hoping to be out there with the boys on the first day.”
As well as making an impression on the pitch, Bloomfield is also heavily involved with club initiatives off it, and is volunteering in Kenya early next month as part of the Blues in Kenya initiative.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to it, but there are only three weeks to go so I’m a little bit apprehensive. It will be an amazing life experience and I’d like to thank the Wycombe fans who have sponsored me.
“We’re looking forward to the night here (at Adams Park) on the 18th so hopefully as many people as possible can come down to that.”
